Crown blocks

Purpose:
— suspending of tools or casings;
— round-trip and process operations during well drilling.

Construction:
— frame;
— sheaves sections;
— sheaves assembly
— auxiliary sheaves.

Sheaves sections consists of axes installed on the bearings, clamped on the axis, locked by a screw, followed by installation of cotter-pins into the nut slot. At the top, the sheaves sections are covered by guards.
The sheaves sections axis in the split supports of the frame are fixed against rotation by a plug.
The sheaves on the bearings are fixed by spring rings. For each sheave, there are lubricators for lubrication of the bearings covered with caps on each side on the axis faces. It is necessary to lubricate the bearings with Litol 24 as per GOST 21150-87 and to watch out that there is no excess heat of the bearings, because the lubricant loses its properties at the temperature above 100⁰С.
To the crown block frame, the blocks for the wire auxiliary blocks for wire, coming from the auxiliary drawworks or from the special devices, are hanging. The upper end of the guide is also fixed to the frame of the crown block of the top drive system. The crown blocks are of 200 to 600 ton load capacity. The crown block is installed on the derrick before its erection.
